1. Games & Sims – What’s new / evolving in 2025

Big PC/console titles & updates

  • Assetto Corsa EVO (AC EVO)

    • 2025 is the big year: early access and ongoing updates with modern graphics and physics, meant to be the true successor to AC. It’s one of the most–watched titles for serious sim heads. Apex Sim Racing+1

  • Rennsport

    • Full release scheduled for November 13, 2025, after a long beta and ESL R1 competition era. Focus is on laser-scanned tracks, detailed physics, and strong online infrastructure. Apex Sim Racing+1

  • Le Mans Ultimate

    • 2025 is the “mature” year for LMU: big content & stability updates and a full release window in the second half of 2025, with the WEC / Le Mans focus that’s pulling a lot of endurance fans. OverTake.gg

  • NASCAR 25, Wreckfest 2, Project Motor Racing, Endurance Motorsport Series

    • New NASCAR title, a Wreckfest sequel and multiple new sims (like Endurance Motorsport Series) are all on the 2025–25.5 radar, making this one of the busiest racing-game years in a decade. Apex Sim Racing+1

  • The usual heavyweights keep rolling

    • iRacing: 2025 special events calendar continues the big endurance races (Daytona/Rolex 24, Sebring, etc.). iRacing

    • Gran Turismo 7: Spec 3 update (and Sophy 3.0 AI in paid DLC) gives better offline racing and new content for PS5 players. TechRadar

    • F1, EA WRC, Forza etc. are in the yearly “refinement” mode rather than revolution.

Big trend:
You’re seeing fewer purely “arcade” racers at the top end, and more sims that lean into realistic physics + long-form online series (ACC, LMU, Rennsport, AC EVO).

2. Hardware – Wheels, bases, pedals in 2025

Direct-drive is basically the new normal

  • Direct-drive wheelbases are now standard from entry-level to high-end:

    • Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel is still a go-to “best overall” DD wheel for many PC players in 2025. PC Gamer

    • Moza R3 bundle is one of the few budget DD options often recommended for beginners; it’s now showing up on “best cheap wheels” lists. Traxion.GG+1

    • Simucube and Asetek are treated as “end-game” premium choices, with the community emphasizing build quality over just chasing higher Nm. SIMRACINGCOCKPIT.GG+1

  • Belt/gear wheels aren’t dead yet

    • Logitech G923 / G920 are still strongly recommended as mid-range console wheels, and they keep getting big promo pushes (like current Black Friday deals). TechRadar+1

What actually matters in 2025:

  • Good FFB quality & software (filters, tuning, profiles).

  • Load-cell or hydraulic pedals have become the big performance upgrade once you’re already on a decent wheelbase.

  • Console players can get very close to PC feel without breaking the bank now.

3. VR & Displays – Immersion arms race

VR is probably where the tech has moved the most since 2023.

  • Top 2025 sim-racing VR picks lean toward:

    • Pimax Crystal Light / Crystal Super

    • Varjo VR-3 (for those with $$$)

    • Valve Index (aging but still beloved)

    • Meta Quest 3S as a cheaper entry-level option when used with PC Link. Apex Sim Racing+1

  • PSVR 2 is still the natural choice if you’re locked into PS5 + GT7, especially with current discounts. GamesRadar+

  • The VR market in 2025 is very competitive:

    • Deep Black Friday cuts on PSVR 2, Quest 3/3S, HTC Vive Pro 2, Pico 4 Ultra, etc. GamesRadar+

    • Rumors/early info on the next-gen Meta / “Quest 4” class devices heating up, but those are more 2026+. Android Central

Trend:

  • For sim racing specifically, the “sweet spot” is now mid-priced, high-resolution PC VR (Crystal Light / Quest 3) rather than the ultra-expensive headsets.

4. Esports & Organized Racing in 2025

There’s more high-profile sim racing than ever, but it’s fragmented across series:

  • F1 Sim Racing 2025

    • Official F1 esports-style championship with a 10-race calendar (Albert Park, Shanghai, Bahrain, Jeddah, Silverstone, Spa, Zandvoort, COTA, Mexico, Brazil, Lusail, Yas Marina). McLaren+1

  • Esports World Cup 2025 (Riyadh)

    • Includes a dedicated Esports Racing event 8–11 July 2025; top sim racers from multiple platforms compete. Porsche Motorsport Hub

  • IMSA Esports Global Championship 2025

    • Returns with a new season featuring big-name teams (Williams, CrowdStrike, Maniti, etc.). IMSA

  • Grassroots / league racing

    • Platforms like SimGrid and other league hubs run constant ACC / iRacing championships and special events all year. The SimGrid

What this means in practice:
If you want competition, you can:

  • Run official series (F1/iRacing),

  • Join league-organized multiclass endurance (SimGrid / VCO-style),

  • Or race in single-make or fixed-setup cups that are easier to jump into.

5. Big-picture trends for 2025

If we zoom out, here’s how sim racing is evolving this year:

  1. Direct-drive for everyone

    • Entry DD wheels (Moza R3, cheaper Fanatec/Logitech deals) mean even beginners can get solid FFB without $1000+ investments. Traxion.GG+1

  1. Endurance & GT racing still dominate

    • ACC, LMU, Rennsport, plus IMSA / WEC / GT3-focused esports all keep GT racing at the center of the scene. Apex Sim Racing+1

  1. VR and triple screens are now both “viable defaults”

    • There’s no one right choice; people either go triples for clarity & comfort, or VR for immersion as headsets get lighter and sharper. Apex Sim Racing+1

  1. AI is getting less dumb

    • GT7’s Sophy 3.0, improving single-player AI, and better offline experiences mean you don’t have to race online to get decent competition anymore. TechRadar

  1. More options, more fragmentation

    • Between AC EVO, Rennsport, LMU, iRacing, ACC, RRRE, GT7, F1, etc., the scene is wide; no universal “one true sim,” but lots of niches.

6. What you might want to do this year

Since you’re already pretty deep into sim stuff:

  • If you have a modern DD wheel already (like a MOZA/Logitech Pro/etc.):

    • Focus upgrades on pedals (load cell or hydraulic), seat/rig stiffness, and then VR or monitor setup.

  • Content-wise in 2025:

    • Try AC EVO early access + Le Mans Ultimate once it’s fully patched.

    • Keep ACC / iRacing in the rotation for reliable league racing.

    • Watch how Rennsport launches in November before committing big money to its ecosystem.

  • If you’re making videos/podcasts:

    • 2025 is a great time to do “What to Buy at Each Budget in 2025” and “Which New Sim Is Actually Worth It?” content, because there’s tons of confusion around AC EVO vs Rennsport vs LMU.

If you tell me:

  • what rig you’re using right now (wheel, pedals, screens/VR), and

  • whether you’re more into league racing, hotlapping, or content creation,

  1. I can spin this into a personalized 2025 sim racing upgrade + content plan just for you.
