You’re seeing fewer purely “arcade” racers at the top end, and more sims that lean into realistic physics + long-form online series (ACC, LMU, Rennsport, AC EVO).
2. Hardware – Wheels, bases, pedals in 2025
Direct-drive is basically the new normal
- Direct-drive wheelbases are now standard from entry-level to high-end:
- Logitech G Pro Racing Wheel is still a go-to “best overall” DD wheel for many PC players in 2025. PC Gamer

What actually matters in 2025:
- Good FFB quality & software (filters, tuning, profiles).
- Load-cell or hydraulic pedals have become the big performance upgrade once you’re already on a decent wheelbase.
- Console players can get very close to PC feel without breaking the bank now.
3. VR & Displays – Immersion arms race
VR is probably where the tech has moved the most since 2023.
- Top 2025 sim-racing VR picks lean toward:
- Pimax Crystal Light / Crystal Super
- Varjo VR-3 (for those with $$$)
- Valve Index (aging but still beloved)

- For sim racing specifically, the “sweet spot” is now mid-priced, high-resolution PC VR (Crystal Light / Quest 3) rather than the ultra-expensive headsets.

There’s more high-profile sim racing than ever, but it’s fragmented across series:

If you want competition, you can:
- Run official series (F1/iRacing),

- Or race in single-make or fixed-setup cups that are easier to jump into.
5. Big-picture trends for 2025
If we zoom out, here’s how sim racing is evolving this year:

6. What you might want to do this year
Since you’re already pretty deep into sim stuff:
- If you have a modern DD wheel already (like a MOZA/Logitech Pro/etc.):
